Semiplumbeous Hawk (Leucopternis semiplumbea)

When we visited Costa Rica, one of the places that we explored was the biological station at Selva Verde, in the heart of the Sarapiqui rainforest reserve. A large suspension bridge crosses the Sarapiqui river and it was here that we were alerted to the presence of this Semiplumbeous Hawk (Leucopternis semiplumbea). This beautiful small hawk was sitting quietly on a branch by the start of the suspension bridge, making a great subject for a photo!
