Hummingbird Hawkmoth, Macroglossum stellatarum, hawkmoth, moth, Turkey

Hummingbird Hawkmoth (Macroglossum stellatarum)

I’ve just returned from a short holiday to Turkey. We were based on the coast south of Kemer and our room was surrounded by a beautiful garden. A nice surprise for me was to find that Hummingbird Hawkmoths (Macroglossum stellatarum) were very common in the garden. This is a daytime flying moth and from the picture you can see where it gets it’s name from!
