Northern Saw-whet Owl (Aegolius acadicus)

I took this photo of this extremely cute Northern Saw-whet Owl (Aegolius acadicus) at the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary which is south of Vancouver, Canada. Several of these very small owls were over-wintering at the reserve, perching low in trees right by the boardwalk. Even though we knew these birds were there, they were still very hard to locate, given their small size!
