Wandering Albatross (Diomedea exulans)

When I was visiting Sydney, Australia, we went on a fantastic pelagic trip out of the harbour. One of the great sea birds that we encountered was this wonderful Wandering Albatross (Diomedea exulans). With a wingspan of up to 3.5 metres, it’s hard to fit the whole bird into the frame! I like to think that this photo gives some idea of how impressive this majestic bird looks as it circumnavigates the southern oceans…..
