White-faced Ibis (Plegadis chihi)

In my opinion, wildlife photography involves a large amount of luck, no matter what anyone tells you! When I visited the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, situated along the banks of the Rio Grande river in Texas, USA, I was very lucky to get the above photo of a White-faced Ibis (Plegadis chihi). When I took this photo, I didn’t realise that the light was such as to both show off the subtle colours of this otherwise ‘dark’ bird and also to give a contrastingly white background to the image. Luck!
