Turquoise-browed Motmot (Eumomota superciliosa)

A Turquoise-browed Motmot (Eumomota superciliosa), photographed in Costa Rica. The birds pluck their own feathers from their tails to leave this bare stretch. Amazingly, each individual inherently knows just how much feather plucking to do so that within any given motmot species they all have the same length of bare tail!
