Today I was very fortunate to be able to photograph a pair of Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers (Dendrocopos minor) at their nest hole. This first photo shows the male (who has a red cap) leaving the nest hole:

Both of the above photos were taken not too far from our home here in Bavaria.
