Dark-backed Wood-quail (Odontophorus melanonotus)

Wood-quails are normally very elusive birds to see. You can often hear them, as they make loud calls which can be heard from quite a distance, but seeing them is usually quite a different matter! However, it was delightful to encounter a group of chubby little Dark-backed Wood-quail (Odontophorus melanonotus) when I visited the famous Paz de las Aves bird refuge in Ecuador.
