White-necked Jacobin, Florisuga mellivora, hummingbird, bird, ecuador

White-necked Jacobin (Florisuga mellivora)

This is another hummingbird photo that I took whilst staying at the lovely El Septimo Paraiso cloud forest lodge in Ecuador. This bird is a White-necked Jacobin (Florisuga mellivora), one of the ‘bullies’ of the hummingbird feeders. Again, no flash was used when taking this photo, just the available light. One challenge is to try not to get any of the very artificial-looking plastic hummingbird feeders showing in such a photo-you can see a small part of such a feeder sneaking into this photo in the bottom left-hand corner!
