Growing up in the UK, this bird will always be known to me as a Bearded Tit! But, these days, taxonomists have decided that this species should reside in the parrotbill bird family, so now it’s called a Bearded Parrotbill (Panurus biarmicus)! I took this photo at the Lakenheath Fen RSPB nature reserve in England which is a great place to see these beautiful birds. Bearded Parrotbills live in reed-beds and are most easily seen on calm, still days when they perch higher up in the reeds. If it’s a windy day, you will be lucky to see one!
