I took this photo of a Great Grey Owl (Strix nebulosa) in an area north of Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. I’m of the opinion that this area has to be the best place to see and photograph Great Grey Owls in the world! The owls often perch on fenceposts and tree branches which are very close to the rough tracks which traverse the forest. It’s easy to access in an ordinary car and you simply just drive around slowly until you spot an owl. It’s a wonderful experience to be able to get such good views of these magnificent birds!
