Northern Pygmy-owl (Glaucidium californicum)

I took this photo of a Northern Pygmy-owl (Glaucidium californicum) in a forested area north of Cochrane in Alberta, Canada. I had gone there looking to photograph Great Grey Owls and had parked my hire car on a side-track in the forest whilst I had some lunch. By complete luck I suddenly heard this owl calling, not far from the car! Excitedly I tramped off into the forest with my camera and was fortunate enough to be able to take this photo of this tiny owl as he fiercely glowered down at me.
