I took this photo of a Rufous-headed Pygmy-tyrant (Pseudotriccus ruficeps) whilst walking around the lodge garden at Cabanas San Isidro in Ecuador. This bird is a very small but distinctive-looking member of the tyrant-flycatcher family. I think that this is one of those bird species that can easily be passed over when scanning through a field-guide, but then turns out to be really impressive when you see one in reality!
