Many-colored Rush-tyrant (Tachuris rubrigastra)

I was delighted to have the chance to get a photo of a Many-colored Rush-tyrant (Tachuris rubrigastra) whilst I was in Peru! I first saw this pretty little tyrant flycatcher in Argentina many years ago, before I had a decent camera and had hoped ever since to have a chance to photograph one someday. Whilst staying in Lima, we visited the Los Pantanos de Villa nature reserve which is along the coast just south of the town. This turned out to be a great place to see this reed-bed loving bird, along with lots of other gulls and water birds!

As an advertisement-my colleagues at Manu Expeditions Birding & Wildlife tours offer a day trip out from Lima which visits this reserve, as well as an exciting boat trip around Pucusana Bay-of which more in a future posting!
