Green-and-black Fruiteater (Pipreola riefferii)

I took this photo of a male Green-and-black Fruiteater (Pipreola riefferii) in the Pro-Aves Yellow-eared Parrot reserve near Jardin in Colombia. Although Fruiteaters are not the smallest of birds, their mainly green plumage combined with their habit of perching quietly on a branch for long periods makes them surprisingly tricky to spot! They also make very high-pitched calls which are also easy to miss. Luckily for me, this particular bird decided to perch quite low down and out in the open, allowing me the chance to photograph it.
